  1. Installation Notes                             Organic Software Sampler
  2. ──────────────────
  3.     Each of the packages are provided in the form of a self-extracting
  4. LHARC archive (LHARC (c) 1991, Yoshi).  For example, WML22*.EXE contains
  5. the complete WML package (minus INSTALL which I'll get to in a minute).
  6. Each archive contains the BBS files FILE_ID.DIZ and DESC.SDI.
  7.  
  8.     To install a package:
  9.  
  10.     1. Type "A:INSTALL" or "B:INSTALL" (whichever is appropriate)
  11.        (without the quotation marks).
  12.     2. A menu of available software will appear.  Highlight your choice
  13.        and press ENTER, then just follow the prompts on the screen.
  14.  
  15.     If you do not have INSTALL, use "md" and "cd" commands (for example,
  16. MD \WML then CD \WML) and extract the archive while in that directory
  17. (just type the name of the EXE file).

  20. Placing on a BBS
  21. ────────────────

  23.     If you operate a bulletin board system or want to upload these
  24. packages to a BBS (please do!) just upload the EXE archives (e.g.,
  25. WML*.EXE).  Some BBSs require ZIP or ARJ archives.  To put WML in a ZIP
  26. file, for example, just do "PKZIP WML22j WML22j.EXE".  You can also
  27. unpack the archive in an empty directory then use ZIP or ARJ.

  30. Distributing on Floppy Disks
  31. ────────────────────────────

  33.     To distribute just put an EXE archive along with INSTALL.EXE on a
  34. single disk.  That's it!  To be more specific:
  35.  
  36.     * WJS - WJS*.EXE and INSTALL.EXE
  37.     * WVH - WVH*.EXE and INSTALL.EXE
  38.     * WML - WML*.EXE and INSTALL.EXE (for 360k disks INSTALL.EXE will
  39.             have to be on a second disk)
  40.     * WFF - WFF*.EXE and INSTALL.EXE
  41.     * WTB - WTB*.EXE and INSTALL.EXE
  42.     * ANGELIB - ANGEL*.EXE by itself (there is no need for INSTALL)

  44. Note: BBS users have no need for INSTALL.EXE.  Some packages, such as
  45.       WVH and WML, will require two 360k disks or else you can eliminate
  46.       INSTALL and provide instructions instead.

  49. FILE LIST

  51.     WML*.EXE    What Mailing List?
  52.                 A mailing list manager and printer.  Manages up to 250
  53.                 lists per directory with a theoretical limit of 5.5
  54.                 million names per list. Prints envelopes, labels, phone
  55.                 book, group list, zip code list. Names can be organized
  56.                 into groups. Abbreviations save typing. Smart Zip learns
  57.                 and enters City & State automatically. Concurrent use of
  58.                 dot matrix and laser printer. LaserJet III/PCL-5 scalable
  59.                 font support. Soft font downloading. Import and Export
  60.                 including ASCII & DBF. Duplicate checking. Indices and
  61.                 filters. Query. Postal bar codes printed on laser output.

  63.     WVH*.EXE    What Vehicle History?
  64.                 Service history tracking, billing, and reporting for
  65.                 mechanical devices.  Tracks the service history for any
  66.                 number of cars, trucks, big rigs, tractors, generators,
  67.                 what-have-you. Tracks labour and parts, mechanics,
  68.                 divisions/owners, service types, and inventory.

  70.     WJS*.EXE    What Job Summary?
  71.                 A job summary tracking system for any type of
  72.                 contractor.  Enter bid dates, bid amounts, estimated and
  73.                 actual cost figures, etc.  WJS will keep it organized
  74.                 and print reports including a work in progress report
  75.                 for bonding purposes.

  77.     ANGEL*.EXE  Application development library for PDS 7.1
  78.                 Includes scrollable information window, file selection
  79.                 window, printer & soft font functions, and much more.
  80.                 60+ routines (with mouse support where applicable).

  82.     WFF*.EXE    What Floppy Format?  (Freeware)
  83.                 Menu companion to FDFORMAT.EXE, a public domain disk
  84.                 formatter with extended densities (up to 1.72Mb on a
  85.                 floppy!) and features like a 7-second re-format. FDFORMAT
  86.                 can be found as FDFORM18.ZIP on BBSs.

  88.     WTB*.EXE    What Tape Back-up?  (Freeware)
  89.                 A simple menu system for tape back-ups.  WTB keeps track
  90.                 of the last time each tape was used, suggests the next
  91.                 tape, and directly controls the tape drive using batch
  92.                 commands to your tape software.  Mountain and Jumbo
  93.                 commands provided; use an ASCII editor to add others.

  95.     INSTALL.EXE Installation programme for all packages.  Include this
  96.                 when distributing on floppy disk.  Not necessary for
  97.                 BBSs.  INSTALL is NOT packed; just COPY it to each
  98.                 master floppy disk you make.
